In Gym Safety Protocols during Covid-19

Changing Nature of these Policies

Please be aware that these policies will continue to change and shift as the situation with covid-19 changes.  We are taking a very cautious approach as we re-open.  Participant and staff safety takes top priority in our programming.  We will continue to follow all recommendations from Toronto Public Health and update policies as needed.  You will be informed through your contact email if we make any changes to these policies after we open registration.

Bubbled Classes

In our bubbled classes, participants will not be socially distanced and will share equipment during the class.  Coach remains socially distanced from all participants.  Participants must be able to follow the rules about staying out of the coach's designated area to participate in our bubbled classes.  Parents of younger participants must stay  to help with distancing, masks and washroom unless the coach informs the parent that this is no longer necessary.

Social Distancing - Distanced Classes

We have a strict 6' minimum social distancing policy in place.  Anyone who is unable to follow this social distancing policy will be given one reminder and then would be removed from participating in the class (and a parent called for early pickup).  If social distancing and staying in a designated spot is a challenge for your child, we recommend our bubbled classes or private lesson.

Coach will be distanced from all participants during class and will not be spotting participants except in the case of an emergency.

Masks Required

Both coaches and participants are required to wear a mask the entire time while in our facility.   This includes group classes, bubbled classes and private lessons.

Equipment Cleaning and Rotation

  • Non-Porous equipment like vinyl training mats will be disinfected between use.
  • Silks will be on a 48 hour rotation cycle.  We may also start using a dryer for some silks to disinfect between use.  No one will be sharing silks during class unless "bubbled".
  • Carpet floor will be sprayed with a disinfect at the end of the day and more often when classes like tumbling are using them directly. (Currently there is no product that claims to disinfect porous surfaces, we recommend using hand sanitizer on the way out)
  • Washroom common touch surfaces will be disinfected between classes
  • Any commonly touched surfaces like railings will be disinfected between classes.

New Check-in Protocols

  • Staggered start times for classes.
  • Outdoor socially distanced markers for covid screening and check-in
  • Please do not enter our gym.  A coach will check you in from outside at the start of your class time.  Mini-gym's designated spot is the rectangle for bubbled classes.  Distanced classes should stand on the "x" markers.
  • Late entry will not be permitted.
  • Hand Sanitizer upon entry
  • You'll bring your belongings directly into a designated spot in the gym with you.  Cubbies will not be in use.
  • Only participants will be permitted in the facility (exception some mini-gym classes).  Waiting areas are closed.

Arrive Ready for Class

  • Arrive ready for class (changerooms are closed).  Sweatpants and sweatshirt are great coverups for training clothes.
  • Go to the washroom at home before class (we are trying to minimize washroom use at the gym)

What to bring to class

  1. One or more masks.  They'll be required for everyone while in our facility including while working out.
  2. A notebook/pen (aerial classes)
  3. Spray bottle of water for silks ($2 at Cirque-ability if you don't have one)
  4. Chalk for trapeze or hoop student ($5 at Cirque-ability if you need some)
  5. Non-glass water bottle filled up.
  6. No food.
  7. Additional hand sanitizer if you wish to use during class.  Tumbling students should be aware that although we spray the carpet between use with a disinfectant, there is no current product that claims to disinfect a porous surface against covid.  We do know that covid doesn't live as long on porous surfaces.
  8. A beach towel or yoga mat to use over warm-up mat if you like (they are disinfected between every use)

Waiting Room is Closed

For increased safety during covid-19,  Our waiting room is closed.  Only participants are permitted to enter the facility.  If your child is hesitant to enter the gym on their own, we recommend asking about a family/bubbled class option or private lesson.

Participants, please do not arrive early for a class, you will not be permitted in the facility before your class start time.

Different Types of In-gym Classes

1) Group classes with social distancing for ages 8 and up.

2) Family & sibling/bubbled friend classes with social distancing between pairs, but not between bubbled siblings, families or friends.

4) Private classes for 1-6 non-bubbled  participants in our mezzanine gym with social distancing between participants.  Coach instructs from a safe social distance.  Limited options available.

Coach will set up fun circus stations for child-directed learning that focuses on developing  physical literacy.  This can be booked as a 30 minute private or private class with up to 3 kids and 3 parents.  Participants share equipment in this class.

*We recommend this for bubbled families since kids are sharing equipment and at this age don't respond well to staying at designated stations. *

Mini-Hoop

Available as a private or semi-private option only for 8 & under.  -

*Semi-private participants must be bubbled*

Kinder/KidCirque - Age 3.5-7

Fun circus based circuits that build foundational skills in aerial and acro while developing physical literacy.  We recommend 30 minute length for 5 & under.

*Participants must be "bubbled", no social distancing between participants and equipment is shared*

Tumbling - Age 8+

Tumbling geared to each individual's level such as cartwheels, walkovers, handstands and more.  This is not a suitable class for intermediate tumblers unless they would like to focus mainly on presses and handstands (participants should be under 5'3 for mini-gym tumbling ).

*Can accommodate 1 to 6 "bubbled" participants*

**Socially distanced option available as a semi-private for kids with the ability to stay in a designated space without any reminders.**

Flexibility/Contortion - Age 8 to Adult

Everyone can improve their flexibility!  Beginners will work towards splits and bridges.  Intermediate participants work towards contortion skills.   Great for all abilities, even if you're no where close to touching your toes!  Modifications will be given for different levels.  This is a great option for a dancer who needs to improve flexibility and the 9-5er with neck tension from sitting at desk.  You will see improvement!
