A fun program with circus stations developing skills in both acrobatics and aerial arts. Children are divided into age groups and rotate through stations including silks, hoop, trapeze, tumbling and tumble track. Children work towards tumbling skills at their level and also learn introductory skills on aerial silks and bar apparatus (hoop or trapeze).
Please note that if the class title says KidCirque Silks & Tumbling, there is no bar (hoop/trapeze) apparatus on that day and the kids focus on silks for the aerial portion of class.
*If your child has a year or more of experience and is age eligible for our grade 3 & up classes, we recommend signing up for one of those classes so that they have more time on their aerial apparatus. As they learn more complex tricks and sequences, the additional time is beneficial*
This Level 1 class is perfect for those looking to learn foundational tumbling skills and build strength. Goal skills at this level include landings, front/back rolls, cartwheels, headstands, handstands and bridges. (Tumbling may also be known as acro or floor gymnastics)
Participants will work towards cartwheel variations, handstands, round-offs, fall to bridge, bridge kickovers, bridge recovery, walkovers and front handsprings.
Pre-Requisite skills - front roll, cartwheel, kick to momentary handstand and bridge with straight arms.
In Junior Aerial, the children will spend half their time on Aerial Silks and half their time on Hoop & Static Trapeze. This class is great for kids that love monkey bars or climbing and want to get strong and learn cool tricks on our aerial apparatus.
*Please note that Aerial requires turn waiting, focus and an ability to follow directions and a full length aerial class may not be a good fit for all children in this age group*
